The Full Formula

Every ingredient. Every dose. No proprietary blends.

Clock Out is a post-shift recovery drink mix. Six active ingredients do the work: L-theanine 200mg to take the edge off, glycine 3,000mg and magnesium bisglycinate 150mg to support sleep quality, boswellia 60mg and tart cherry 480mg to support muscle and joint recovery, and UC-II 40mg to support joint comfort over the long haul. Plus sodium, potassium, and 2g of working sugar to put back what a shift takes out. One ~15g stick into 16oz of cold water, hand-shake in any bottle, no shaker ball. Caffeine-free, 2g sugar, about 26 calories. Safe for daily use, no cycling required. Every active dose is the dose that was studied. Third-party tested every batch, no proprietary blends. One disclosure: UC-II is made from chicken cartilage. It is not a Big 9 allergen so we are not required to say that. We are saying it anyway.

Same Evening

The edge comes off.

L-Theanine 200mg Calm, not drowsy. You feel this one within the hour. What the research says

An amino acid found in green tea, minus the caffeine. L-theanine promotes alpha brain wave activity, the pattern associated with relaxed, clear-headed focus. It is not a sedative. The difference matters when you still have dinner, kids, and a lunch to pack. It is virtually tasteless in the formula.

200mg is the most replicated dose in the literature. A 4-week randomized controlled trial found L-theanine taken daily was associated with decreased stress scores and improved sleep quality compared to placebo. We used to run 400mg in an earlier version of this formula. The research says the effect flattens out around 200mg, so we cut it. Effects are typically noticeable within 30–60 minutes. No tolerance buildup, no cycling required.

This is the part you feel on day one.

First Night

Sleep and overnight recovery.

Glycine 3g Supports sleep quality. Not sleep quantity. The hours you get land differently. What the research says

An amino acid that supports sleep quality by helping lower core body temperature, one of the key signals your body uses to initiate deep sleep. Glycine also pulls water and sodium across the gut through a second absorption pathway, separate from the sugar route. That is the hydration half of its job. Its natural sweetness lets us keep monk fruit low and avoid the aftertaste that comes with higher sweetener doses.

A randomized controlled trial found that 3g of glycine before bed significantly reduced the time it took participants to fall asleep, improved their subjective sleep quality ratings, and decreased next-day fatigue, without causing drowsiness or grogginess the next morning. 3g is the exact studied dose, and our magnesium bisglycinate carries roughly another 930mg of glycine on top of it. Glycine has been studied at doses up to 90g/day with no reported adverse effects.

Magnesium Bisglycinate 150mg elemental Supports muscle relaxation. What the research says

Magnesium is directly involved in muscle contraction, relaxation, and recovery. 48% of American adults consume less magnesium than their Estimated Average Requirement, per NIH analysis of national nutrition data, which means most people doing physical work are running low on a mineral their muscles depend on. Hands, forearms, and calves are where you feel it. We use the fully-reacted bisglycinate form because it dissolves clean, skips the stomach issues cheaper forms are known for, and carries extra glycine, which is already doing work in this formula.

A 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis found magnesium supplementation supported recovery from delayed-onset muscle soreness and improved recovery markers in physically active populations. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements sets the adult magnesium RDA at 310–420mg depending on age and sex. Clock Out provides 150mg elemental, meaningfully closing the intake gap while staying well below the 350mg tolerable upper intake level for supplemental magnesium. The bisglycinate (chelated) form has demonstrated superior bioavailability compared to oxide forms in published comparative studies, and it delivers roughly 930mg of bonus glycine.

You wake up feeling different. This is the first thing most people actually notice.

Around Day Ten

Soreness support shows up.

Boswellia Serrata (AquaLOX) 60mg Supports muscle and joint comfort after hard days. What the research says

A tree resin extract standardized to 78% AKBA, its most studied active compound. 60mg is not a rounded-down version of a bigger dose. It is the amount used in a 2025 trial that gave it as a drink mix, the same way we do. Most boswellia will not dissolve in water. This grade does. That is why we use it.

A 2025 randomized controlled trial gave 60mg of this exact material daily as a sachet in water to 50 people through ten straight days of hard downhill running. The boswellia group reported less soreness and stiffness by days nine and ten, and their strength had recovered by day ten. That is the studied dose, in the studied format, for the studied use case: a body doing hard repetitive work day after day.

This is the one you notice by its absence. The stairs after a long day stop being a thing you think about.

Over Weeks

Strength recovery between hard days.

Tart Cherry Extract (CherryPURE) 480mg Supports strength recovery. Load hard Monday, Tuesday shows up closer to full. What the research says

A 50-to-1 concentrated Montmorency tart cherry extract. 480mg is the exact dose from the CherryPURE trials. Not 300mg. Not a proprietary cherry complex. The number they studied. It is also the real cherry in Black Cherry. The flavor is built on top of an active ingredient, not the other way around.

Randomized controlled trials of this material at exactly 480mg daily found better strength recovery following hard resistance work compared to placebo. A 2026 review of 19 trials supports tart cherry for strength recovery, with effect sizes in the moderate to large range. We claim what the research found and nothing more: this ingredient is here for how much of your strength shows up the next day.

A few weeks of daily use is where this one earns its keep.

Months, Not Weeks

The long game for your joints.

UC-II Undenatured Type II Collagen 40mg Supports joint comfort and flexibility. Builds over months, not days. What the research says

This is not collagen powder. UC-II works through your immune system rather than by patching cartilage, which is why the dose is 40mg instead of 8 grams. It is a small number because it is supposed to be. More is not better with this one. It is slow by design, and it replaced the 8g of collagen powder in our old formula, which is also why this product no longer needs a shaker. One disclosure: UC-II is made from chicken cartilage. Take it on a light stomach. Before dinner works.

A 191-person randomized controlled trial ran UC-II at 40mg daily for 180 days against both placebo and glucosamine plus chondroitin. The UC-II group reported better joint comfort and function than both. 40mg is the exact studied dose. If you are two weeks in and waiting on your knees, keep going. The trial ran six months for a reason.

Vitamin C 60mg A required cofactor for your body's own collagen production. What the research says

Your body builds its own collagen for tendons and ligaments, and it needs two things to do it: glycine, the rate-limiting amino acid, and vitamin C, the required cofactor. This formula supplies both. 60mg is 67% of the daily value. We used to run 500mg and cut it, because mega-dosing vitamin C does not help this job.

Vitamin C is essential for the hydroxylation steps of collagen formation. Without enough of it, the body cannot properly assemble collagen into functional tissue. The adult daily value is 90mg. Clock Out provides 60mg, enough to support collagen synthesis alongside the roughly 3.9g of total glycine in the formula, without pretending a bigger number would do more.

Joint comfort builds slowly because of how UC-II works. If you quit at week three you will not find out.

Electrolytes

Runs alongside all three phases.

Sodium ~400mg Total per serving, from a sodium citrate and salt blend, citrate majority.
Potassium ~200mg elemental From potassium citrate. Most products skip it.
Dextrose 2g The 2g of sugar on the label, all of it working. Glucose runs the sodium co-transport pathway that moves water into your system faster than water alone.

Two absorption pathways working at once: glucose runs one, glycine runs the other. Replacing what a shift sweats out, without 30 grams of sugar to get there.

Supporting Ingredients

  • Allulose 5g The sweetness body. Tastes like real sugar because it is a rare sugar, but it is excluded from the sugar lines on the label because your body does not use it that way. About 2 calories. This is how the whole stick lands at 2g of sugar and still tastes like something.
  • Citric Acid ~700mg Bright tartness up front. Masks mineral bitterness and helps the electrolytes dissolve fast in cold water.
  • Malic Acid ~250mg The slower, longer tartness that fills the gap between sips. Standard pairing with citric in any drink worth drinking.
  • Natural Flavors 300–500mg Spray-dried black cherry, built on top of the real tart cherry extract already in the formula.
  • Monk Fruit Extract ~50mg Zero-calorie sweetener tail. Pure extract at 50% mogroside V, no erythritol. Low dose because allulose and glycine carry the sweetness.
  • WS-23 Cooling Agent 5–10mg A clean cooling sensation with no mint flavor. The cold-drink feel, even from a lukewarm truck bottle.
  • Silicon Dioxide ~50mg Keeps the powder free-flowing in the stick so it pours clean. Nothing more glamorous than that.

Flavor-system amounts are starting targets. Our manufacturer tunes them for taste. The active ingredients above never move.

What We Left Out

What is not in the formula matters as much as what is.

  • Collagen Peptides (8g in our old formula) Replaced by 40mg of UC-II, which supports joints through a different and better-studied mechanism at a fraction of the weight. Cutting it also fixed the mixing problem for good: no more clumping, no more shaker ball.
  • Taurine The evidence for it is mostly tied to caffeinated contexts. In a caffeine-free evening formula it was 1,000mg of weight without a clear job. Cut.
  • Caffeine This is an end-of-day product. Caffeine has no business in it and never will.
  • Melatonin We want to support the sleep your body already knows how to do, not force it. Glycine and magnesium do that without the next-morning fog some people get from melatonin.
  • Ashwagandha Requires cycling, which contradicts our daily-use principle, and carries rare liver injury reports in published case studies. Out.
  • Curcumin Would require a blood thinner interaction warning. Not worth it when boswellia and tart cherry are already doing the work.
  • Stevia, sucralose, aspartame, gum arabic The aftertaste, the aftertaste, the aftertaste, and the gut. Allulose and monk fruit get to sweet without any of them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to take every day?

Yes. Every ingredient was chosen specifically because it is safe for daily indefinite use. No cycling required for any component. We deliberately excluded ingredients like ashwagandha that require cycling.

Can I take a double dose?

One serving daily is the studied dose and the intended use. If you double up now and then, nothing in the formula becomes a concern for healthy adults: magnesium at 300mg elemental stays below the 350mg supplemental upper limit. But more is not the point of this formula. The doses are the doses because that is what the research used.

Will it interact with my medications?

Space iron supplements at least 2 hours apart. If you are pregnant, nursing, or on prescription medications, consult your healthcare provider.

Why no proprietary blend?

Proprietary blends let companies hide how little of each ingredient they actually use. We list every ingredient and every dose so you can verify you are getting what the research actually studied. If a brand will not tell you the doses, ask yourself why.

Where did the collagen go?

We replaced 8 grams of collagen powder with 40mg of UC-II undenatured collagen. Different mechanism, stronger head-to-head evidence, and a fraction of the weight. Your body also builds its own collagen from glycine and vitamin C, and this formula supplies both. The bonus: without collagen powder there is nothing left to clump, which is why this product needs no shaker.

What flavors are available?

Black Cherry is the flavor. Dark fruit does the best job of carrying minerals without tasting like minerals, and the real tart cherry extract in the formula gives it something true to build on. A second flavor comes after the first run ships, and Founding Members get a say in what it is.
